Remember the Scent Bar that I had at the most recent party I hosted?







Well, I received a ton of emails about that Scent Bar and thought it would be great to introduce you to the Brand and the beauty & brains behind it!



Courtney Crenshaw is the owner and creator of Ka~Mil~Yin Fragrance, Lotion & Soap based in Southern California.

I stumbled upon Ka~Mil~Yin when I was searching for a unique activity/gift for my two girlfriends I was throwing a birthday party for! I had a Cigar Bar for the guys and needed something completely feminine and fabulous and VOILA, I found it!
It's my favorite Ka~Mil~Yin product.....the Perfume Bar Party! How incredibly ingenious is this!! You can have a Mixologist set-up a Perfume Bar at your event and they will help your guests create a scent just for them!
Since I don't live in Southern California, I ordered the 'Perfume Bar Party ~ Do It Yourself Kit' for my party and was able to choose 20 essential oils for my party-goers to mix their own signature scent! It was so much fun! Seriously brilliant!

Ka~Mil~Yin also sells fragrance, lotions and soaps that come in fun scents from 'Coco Beach' to 'Mimosa' and many others! Ka~Mil~Yin luxury products are made with natural oils and quality moisturizing ingredients.

Courtney is as sweet as she is chic and I think you'll agree after reading this interview I had with her...

What made you decide to start your business?
I always found myself spending a lot of time and effort in trying to find the "perfect gift" for friends and family. I am a big beauty product connoisseur so I tend to prefer these types of gifts. I used to go to a little boutique where I could make custom perfumes and this was always a really unique and special gift that my friends enjoyed. I have been working in a very structured career that lacks a lot of creativity and I wanted to venture off to try to create something of my own, so I started buying books about how to make fragrance and bath products and after a lot of trial and error found something that I loved to do and wanted to turn it into a business that I could call my own.

Who has been your greatest inspiration or supporter?
My sister inspired me as she was the first person to gift to me a custom perfume. My husband is the one who pushed me to turn my hobby into a business and encourages me to push forward everyday in building my business.

How did you come up with the name Ka~Mil~Yin?
I love color and I require constant change in my life to keep things interesting, so when thinking about what to name my business, I thought immediately of a chameleon. I love changing up my scent frequently and I wanted to create a line of scents that you could wear interchangeably. Each scent evokes a different mood and color scheme and may cater to a specific personality type or may just express how you are feeling that particular day. So, for a play on words, I came up with the name Ka-mil-yin which is inspired by a chameleon and also looks like a girl's name, to embody femininity.

What have you learned about yourself by owning your own business?
I've learned that I may not be a "business woman," but I love what I do and continue to hope that with hard work, time, and effort, that my goals are attainable. I learn something new every day and my ideas and interests in growing the business continue to evolve.

What are your hobbies?
I live by the beach so my husband and I ride our beach cruisers often. I love to go wine tasting, shopping, spend time with friends and family, and create something new with my products.

Favorite color?
Yellow


Favorite scent?
Anything with Pikake, a Hawaiian Jasmine flower. It is heavenly to me!


Favorite drink?
Orange Mojito


What's on your wish list this holiday season?
A Kindle; I always love a new make-up palette and really like Lorac's holiday palettes, and hopefully a ski trip with my husband somewhere new like Park City or Mount Hood.
